ANDREW MARSHALL, CHAIR Phone/fax: (H) 9845 1081 E-mail: marshall@omninet.net.au "I have lived and farmed in the catchment for 33 years where we have a beef and horticultural enterprise. I have always loved the Australian bush; soon after we purchased our property in 1971, I began a program of fencing off all the remnant vegetation and creek lines as well as planting more trees and developing shelter belts. Bush is such a valuable asset and essential for the future health of our land, flora and fauna. I enjoy being involved with trying to preserve all facets of the Torbay Catchment so that we and future generations can all enjoy living in this wonderful area."
Andrew was elected as Deputy Chair of the Torbay Catchment Group in 1999, and Chairperson since 2002. Upon retirement of John Simpson from the Watershed Torbay community steering committee, Andrew has taken on the role of Chair from March 2004, in addition to his role with the TCG.

MELISSA VERNON Phone: (H) 9844 6115 E-mail: melissa.vernon@health.wa.gov.au
I swim and run along Muttonbird beach most days throughout the year. In the last month I have seen a whale give birth, and other whales in the bay. There exist penguins, dolphins and other animals that live in the bay. They have a right to live as they have for years without the threat of increasing environmental degradation. Clean seas and beaches are dependent upon sustainable waterways and beach environment management plans. Management plans need to be informed by appropriate research and have the support of the community. This project offers the opportunity to develop plans for sustainable systems that do not threaten the environment, a process that we can all be involved in to improve Torbay. |

PHIL MELLON Phone: (M) 0428 446 371 (H) 9844 6371 Fax: 9844 6206 E-mail: pgm@albanyis.com.au
Phil is involved in the Torbay project for a number of reasons. "I live on the drainage system and can see its ongoing degradation and would like it stopped and rectified. Our family intends to live here for a long time yet unless unforseen circumstances arise and it's a way to put something back into the area and community. The Elleker Progress Association, part of the local community, asked me to be their representative on this project. It is a good cause! |

BILL NORTH Phone: (H) 9844 6211 (M) 0428 446 211
In my capacity as a professional fisherman I have been very closely associated with all estuarine and river systems on the south and west coasts for as long as I can remember. My father was also a fisherman and I along with elder brothers would accompany him on many of his fishing trips long before I started school. The clean smell from the estuary was something not many people would have experienced. It saddens me to see these waterways, in particular Torbay and Wilson's Inlet deteriorating to the extent where foul smells are the usual thing and seafood within the estuaries is quite often inedible. Therefore if my knowledge and memories can help restoration of these waterways I am more than happy to help. |

TERRI HARWOOD Phone: (H) 9844 6225 (W) 9892 8757 (M) 0417 953 172 Fax: 9892 8896 E-mail: (H) harwood@albanyis.com.au (W) harwot@albany.training.wa.gov.au
I have lived in the Torbay Catchment for the past 12 years with my husband and two children. The waterways have featured in the recreation pursuits of all my family. I am keen to be part of this project as I want to see the waterways restored to a healthy and viable resource for all members of the community. A whole of catchment management plan based on sound research practice and commitment from the community will ensure a healthy and sustainable environment. |
