Busy busy! How time flies! It's now March, April and what have we done? Well, hope all and sundry had a great festive season around the fes-tive season around the neighbourhood? We did take a break, but only for a short time to reflect on 2006. Since then we have ramped up again and back into the issues. We had a successful soil and fertiliser workshop attended by the masses across different catchments. Having a better understanding of our soils is a must-know for all who wish to use their soils from vegans to carnivores! Our general meetings continue to provide interesting presentations on a wide range of topics. Check the back page for upcoming events & meetings. All welcome! Other recognizable goings on has been the Albany Bushcarers gettin involved in the Cosy Corner area (Great!) and Cleaning up Australia was seen in the catchment as well (Fantastic!!). This summer showed us that we are having a win, I think, on the Watsonia weed front. As I drive around, I'm seein the impact from the program that's in place. A few people probably still don't realise that the TCG can help them with weed eradication, as far as what to do or what method to use. Don't be shy. Finally, it will be good to know that it will be safe to cross the One Lane Bridge (on the Grasmere road) with a load of up to 14 Tonne without having to say a prayer. As we go to press, the City are working on promised repairs that will keep the bridge going for another few years. Good news for the School buses. Talk to You soon Regards Phil Mellon |
![]() The Annual Torbay Catchment tour is on again. Every year we like to jump on a bus, take a drive and check out what is happening around our patch. This year we will be focussing on the diverse range of industries that are happening in our catchment. Ever been to a flower farm? Wondered how an organic vineyard is managed? Walked around a blue-gum plantation? Visited a vegie farm? Well, wonder no more for all will be revealed on Sunday April 15. We will also take the opportunity to see some project sites that the catchment group has funded.
![]() The catchment tour is a great way to find out what YOUR catchment group has been doing, meet your neighbours and get some ideas for your own place. The bus will leave from the Elleker Hall at 10am and will be returning at approximately 3:30pm. Please BYO own picnic lunch. Please RSVP by April 11. Phone Karen on 9841-0128. |
