Hello, As you see it's that time, Spring, a great time of year when most of the plant life start to think about growing, and unfortunately the dreaded "WEEDS" is a front runner. Again we are on the prowl with our equipment to try and head as much as we can 'Off at the Pass'. The usual band of merry men and women will again be seen wandering the streets. I see the City of Albany has already done a lap. Remember equipment can be loaned and materials supplied via TCG if you have a spot that could do with a touch up. Other people seen around the place is a Green Corps group doing some much required works on the eastern banks and Dune areas of the Inlet. Stop for a chat if in the area. The rain has been good too, we definitely have been getting our share as puddles have been forming in places where we haven't seen for a while, the tanks have been kept full and the drainage area has had good flows. Resulting in the multi openings of the Inlet to let the excess out. Unfortunately we have TWO departures, Kirsten Murray( Project Officer) who, in July moved on to 'Other Works', was a great asset for us, 'Out there', on the ground. Alas also Karen McKeough (Project Coordinator) has decided to move, in November on to `Other Works' as well. All the efforts and support from her as Coordinator will be sorely and surely missed. There is to be another Coordinator appointed to this position, and may I say that if we get as dedicated a person as of either of these ladies, Torbay Catchment will continue successfully. On behalf of the whole Catchment, "Good Luck" and "Thank You" both for your valuable time. Cheers, Phil |
![]() A catchment survey is being conducted to measure the attitudes and land management practices of Torbay landholders. The main aim of the survey is to measure the effectiveness of the activities of the Catchment Group after three years of implementing the restoration plan. We want to know whether we are we holding the right type of events and workshops? Is the website and newsletter useful? What things do you want to know more about? The answers to these questions will help us target our efforts, for the best possible outcome. Approximately 160 landholders have been randomly selected to participate in the survey. If you received a survey, but haven't yet returned it-it's not too late. We still want to hear from as many people as possible. Don't forget that you could win a dinner at an Albany restaurant by returning your completed survey. However, if you didn't receive a survey, but you would like to participate and let us know your thoughts, a simplified survey has been included in the newsletter. Please return to (No stamp required )
Department of Water Thanks for participating! |

Play Catchment Detox to see if you successfully manage a river catchment and create a sustainable and thriving economy. It's an online game where you're in charge of the whole catchment. You get to decide what activities you undertake - whether to plant crops, log forests, build factories or set up national parks. The aim is to avoid environmental problems and provide food and wealth for the population. Catchment Detox gives an idea of just how difficult it is to manage a river catchment.
