  • Holy Dooly I saw the Christmas lights in York Street go up over the last couple of weeks. Is it, how many sleeps? Cripes! It only seems like yesterday when the last newsletter went out. I have noticed that we have a great coverage this year in our attempts to eradicate some of the Watsonia problem. Well done to all the crews! Next thing to get on to cutting out and pulling up is the Taylorina! The current blossoming of flowers on these plants is a timely reminder to get on to it before they go to seed.

We have been busy, as you can tell by this issue. Several major topics and issues for us all to comment and think upon include, the Water Corporation discharge (a 'stinky one'), Munda Biddi Trail developments, a Dieback Workshop coming up, and much more. I recommend you get along to Paul Close's talk on the 9 December.

We are currently working on firming up the coordinators' position for a further term - wish us luck as the position is an important cog in keeping this group afloat and steaming ahead. South Coast NRM and Department of Water are trying hard to assist, which is comforting if not fraught with anxiety at times. Also on the issue of positions - since our recent AGM the front bench changed and the position of President/Chair is still vacant and in need of filling. Des Woolfe has kindly offered to stand in on a short term, temporary basis. So anyone wishing to volunteer as Chair would be much appreciated. I will maintain the Vice Chair position until the next AGM (September 2010) and can assist as required. Please contact any of the current Executive Committee if you are interested.

Special thanks goes out to those who stepped down and welcome to those stepping in to continue the great work.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year from your TCG

    Phil, Vice Chair
