General Meeting

Wednesday 5th September 2007

  1. Welcome, attendance and apologies:

    ATTENDANCES: Phil Mellon, Jan Allen, Jim Allan, Chris Westcott, Graeme Heighton, John Blaney-Murphey, Kirsten Murray, Sandra Swain

    APOLOGIES: Karen McKeough, Monty Walker, Maurice McCormick, Justin Bellenger (South Coast NRM)

  2. Confirmation of the previous meeting:

    Minutes were accepted - moved John Blaney-Murphy and seconded by Glen Scott

    Business arising
    Karen and Maurice attended the meeting therefore an amendment will be registered to reflect this

  3. Correspondence and matters arising:

    Nominations have been called for State Landcare awards. There are 14 categories.
    Action: Kirsten and Terri to investigate. Sandra suggested we apply for the Education award

  4. Financial Report:

    Tabled Balance stands at $9772.48
    $259.20. Petty cash

    Bank register
    Onground works need to be committed by June 30 2008 as that is the end of current funding round with SCRIPT

  6. General Business:

    6.1 Twinning Report
    Dr Marianne Jeb has contacted the Watson Family in Fitzroy and Karen is to contact them re the project.

    6.2 Report on South Coast NRM community meetings
    Kirsten Karen, John Phil and others attended to assist them to identify priorities.

    6.3 Banking scandal
    Still waiting for documentation to be found

    6.4 Weed Mapping / Program for 2007.
    Kirsten to meet Superintendent of Westnet Rail re railway reserves weed control. Weed control to begin 17th September. All volunteers appreciated. Department of Justice will commence at George St to Elleker. City of Albany west of Elleker and D of W will continue in their areas to control Watsonia around the vicinity of Elleker town. The meeting asked Adrian to look at the Torbay townsite area. Kirsten asked members to contact her if they have queries re weed locations. Kirsten to investigate the area around Undiup Creek.

    6.5 DEC Contact:
    Kirsten offered to identify a contact for the group. DEC have signed off as a partner.

    6.6 Elleker Progress Association
    Elleker Progress Association are having a meeting next Tuesday to identify issues that the community wish to take to the City of Albany.

    6.7 Upcoming Events.
    Department of Water and the Catchment group will be holding an information afternoon. / Agroforestry field day. Please RSVP for catering purposes to Kirsten, Letitia Newman or Karen McKeough.

    6.8 Godiniland.
    The meeting discussed the progress of the development. The second stage is not yet approved. The first stage will have biomax sewerage.
