Executive Meeting

WEDNESDAY 28 January 2009 at 7.30 pm

  1. Welcome, attendance and apologies

    The Chairperson, Phillip Mellon welcomed those present to the meeting at 1930

    ATTENDANCES: Maurice McCormick, Terri Harwood, Graeme Heighton, Phillip Marshall, Andrew Marshall, John Blaney-Murphy, Des Wolfe

  2. Matters arising from Previous Minutes:

    Minutes of the previous General meeting, 22nd October and Executive meeting, 12th November were circulated prior to the meeting.

    2.1 12/11/08 Executive meeting

    Confirmation of previous minutes: Maurice McCormick and seconded by Phillip Marshall

  4. Financial Report

    The Treasurer tabled the Finance Report

    The Treasurer reported he was still refining the Jobs list and interest allocation to each area. He is also endeavouring to update our membership list.

    The Treasurer Graeme Heighton proposed the meeting accept the finance report which was seconded by John Blaney-Murphy

  6. General Business:

    6.1 Meeting Agendas for 2009:
    It was decided that

    6.2 Rail Trail Project:

    Vicki Read progressing project and has called a meeting on 11/2/09 at Torbay Hall to form a working group to investigate proposal in light of consultants findings and if deemed appropriate by the Community, to assist in compiling the grant application.

    6.3 Twinnings project:
    A teacher and a class from Albany Primary School have expressed an interest in participating.

    Action: Terri to pursue

    6.4 River restoration plan review:
    Action: Terri to request and email all executive members a copy of revised 2008 plan

    5.5 Other Business

    5.5.1 The meeting was informed that Hortin's have plans to build a new dairy facility in close proximity to the drain.
    Action: Terri to write letter to City of Albany to ask if a development plan has been submitted and has Dept of Agriculture advice been sought? Moved Maurice and seconded Andrew.
    5.5.2 John Blaney-Murphy reported that instances of illegal dumping of rubbish in the catchment have increased. One recent sighting was reported to Ranger and it is believed a positive identification has been made and therefore prosecution is possible.
    5.5.3 John Blaney-Murphy reported that local residents were not happy with the recent low water levels. He obtained a copy of Water Quality testing results and took photos which he supplied to new officer, Michael Silifant. Department of Water also attended to review complaints.
    5.5.4 The meeting was notified that the brickworks proposal in Cuthbert was refused by City of Albany and the proponents are now applying to the State Admin Tribunal. The City apparently deemed it to not be a "rural industry".

The chair closed the meeting at 2125.
