Executive Meeting

WEDNESDAY 3rd JUNE, 2009 at 7.30 pm

Welcome, attendance and apologies
The Chairperson, Phillip Mellon welcomed those present to the meeting at 1930
ATTENDANCES: Des Wolfe, Keith Smith, David Broadhurst, Graeme Heighton, John Blaney-Murphy, Lesley Hart, Terri Harwood, Andrew Marshall, Maurice McCormick and Chris Westcott

Matters arising from Previous Minutes:
Executive meeting, April 22: Item 6.3: Lesley followed up on information on Isolda growth noted in Lake Powell.
- Reflects high nutrient levels
- The Isolda could be harvested and used for stock or compost
- Can decrease breeding of mosquito
- More problem if full coverage of surface of the water
The Bird hide track has been cleared ready for school visit by John Blaney- Murphy Illegal marron fishing observed. Members suggested taking car registration number and report to Fisheries Dept.

3.1 Inwards:
- Invitation to Water Forever - Securing our water future for the South Coast
- Environment and Conservation News
- Changes to NAB accounts
- Dept of Commerce, Govt of WA. Invitation to associations and clubs to workshops re legal obligations, members and committees rights and responsibilities, features and benefits of incorporation.
- Project Contract: T&J Bristow
- Landowner funding application: G Dixon and V Fisher
3.2 Outwards:
- Letter of support to South Coast NRM for Job Fund Application (18/5/09)

Finance Report:
- 4.1 Treasurer's report
  Cash Management Account: $193,414.05
  Cheque Account: $1178.35.
  Inwards:$239 memberships, calendars, River Books
  $936 Interest payment
  Outwards: $215 River Books
The Treasurer Graeme Heighton proposed the meeting accept the finance report and it was seconded by Des Wolfe.
Staff Report: Lesley Hart tabled her report.
General Business:
- 6.1 Review of Water Corporation Actions
  Meeting reviewed first action target. Then decided to form subcommittee to review further actions.
  Action: Lesley to progress with John B-M, Keith S, Phil M and Terri H.
- 6.2 Twinning Update:
  Next catchment tour by Albany primary school organised for June 18th 2009. Terri proposed the TCG fund the bus hire on invoice for this catchment tour, seconded by John Blaney-Murphy.
  Action: Terri to notify Greg Gray
- 6.3 Rail Trail Progress:
  Pip met with Basil Schur. A group walked the proposed trail path to check on issues already raised. Lawrence Emery attended the State Rail trail Conference as our representative. No further meetings have been scheduled.
- 6.4 New Road Signage:
  Action: It was proposed that Lesley check guidelines with the City of Albany in order to progress
- 6.5 Presentations for future meetings:
  Action: Lesley to arrange speakers from suggestions from meeting.
- 6.6 Godiniland Subdivision:
  The subdivision submission stated that revegetation throughout the area was to be undertaken.
  Action: Lesley to check records to determine the guidelines for this subdivision re buffers and revegetation and to contact Robert Fenn re progress
- 6.7 WestNet Rail property:
  John Blaney-Murphy still investigating WestNet Rail property boundaries behind houses in Cuthbert.
- 6.8 Western Area Group Committee:
  Keith discussed with David the agenda fr next meeting.
  Action: David to circulate the agenda of future meetings/ consultations to allowfor discussion and preparation for the meeting. We may be able to have facilitators to present at meetings.
- 6.9 Acid Sulphate soils:
  Aquatic Impacts of Disturbed Acid Sulphate soils in South-Western Australia - a presentation on Friday 12th June, 2009.
- 6.10 Tree planting:
  Lesley asked for approximately $1200 for plastic tree guards and bamboo sticks. Approval moved Maurice and seconded Andrew.
- 6.11 Minister for Water visiting:
  Phil reported Chris Gunby and Minister for Water, Graham Jacobs will be visiting on 29th and 30th June. Maurice suggested a tour of Martin's Wetland Restoration project. We need to emphasise Water Quality Monitoring requirements.
  Action: Maurice, Phil and Lesley to attend
- 6.12 Water Corporation presentation:
  Phil attended Water Corporation presentation. Items under consideration were generator and desalination plant and two sites other than Marbellup Brook for water supplies. Water Corporation are progressing with consultation with communities.

The meeting was declared closed at 2130.
